Blind Contour Line Drawings

LINE+COLOUR EXPLORATIONS
TASK 1
For this photo, I wanted to try and do multiple attempts to see how the results would differ and I thought this was really cool how it changed slightly the second time but then the third time looks very different.
These are the first photos are started experimenting with and doing blind contour line drawings.I tried to pick images that were complex, human and had shape.
I like how the blazer turned out and the face too looks like a glitch effect, and I think I want to try and experiment with simpler and less lines to make it easier for the next steps of this project.
I got really inspired with this process and wanted to try a bunch of different images to see what the outcome would look like because the fact that it is blind makes the results really exciting and unexpected.
I really like how the camel photo turned out and also I find it really funny how in the last drawing my face looks like a pug but if I tried to draw a pug blindly I would have never been able to come close to this.
TASK 2
These are the explorations I did on illustrator by playing around with different pens and brushes and also adding some details to the face like a beret and spiky hair. The last photo was done on fresco and it was easier to add a bunch of lines to create shadows but I think to explore Illustrator was better because of the variety of brushes and pens available.
After feedback, I changed up my approach and explored with different images and went on fresco to use pen that changes with pressure and started creating more shadow and dimension to my drawings. I looked at the images and looked at where it was light and added sparse thin lines and where it was light I pressed harder and added more clustered lines to make it darker.
I love how the blazer image looked like and I decided to add the shadows that are in the photo onto the drawing. Since all the drawings I had done so far were with one subject I decided to try doing the contour line of the camel and the dunes and I absolutely love how it turned out with the texture of the sand and the different elements. If I were to keep going on the camel drawing I would add a sky maybe clouds and I think the sun would look like a nice composition.
In these couple photos I was kind of playing around with the two different types of split complementary pallets that I made. I preferred the lighter kind of beige blue and pink colour palette so I use that one. I also made some different shapes and cut them out with the knife tool and then created some different line kind of manipulation to create kind of a Sun ray effect on the last picture.
In these next pictures I was just using the same elements design elements from the last picture on top and I was just exploring the different positions and scales and layering options that would look good and create a deeper relationship between the two subjects as well as clear up some of the white space that first I was kind of intimidated by all of the like having too much too many elements but I also didn't want to have too much white space I realised because it was just I felt it was too cold and didn't have enough personality
In these next images I used the same design elements once again but I kind of played around with different variations of the lines. I also decided to add some circles filled with colors. I also added more lines and decided to actually add colour in the background like blue and pink which I didn't do before. I actually really liked how having a blue and the pink in the background turned out with having on top the kind of beige and brown colors. I think the most interesting part of this project was the layering because just by switching up the layers you can create such different outcomes. Between the first and second picture I changed which way the face in the back was facing and I thought that really changed like the whole relationship of the picture. The first picture reminded me of like an argument and then the second picture is like after the arguments they turn back around to apologise or something. In these last pictures I actually decided to only use thin lines with the beige and brown colors because I actually preferred having the big kind of colour blocking bright blue and pink in the back. And I just mostly played around with clicking on like an object and moving it forward moving it backwards sending it to the front or completely sending it to the back and that really helped me see the best position for it.
This is my final pick!
